Iran’s Ammar screens ‘Reining in Dragons’

The Ammar Popular Film Festival in Iran screens ‘Reining in Dragon’.

The 10th edition of the Ammar Popular Film Festival in Iran has screened the short film ‘Reining in Dragon’ (Mahar-e Ejdaha).

The documentary, directed by Mohammad Dindar, was screened on Wednesday.

It addresses the immethodical imports of goods to Iran when their substitutes already exist in the domestic market, and depicts its negative effect on the country’s economy.

The Ammar Popular Film Festival goes against the promotion of “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles and other humans’ suppression,” the event’s official website reads.

The festival aims “to raise real awareness and responsibility among the general public,” the website adds, noting that the event’s mission is to create an atmosphere in which independent filmmakers and thinkers can gather together.

The 10th edition of the festival kicked off in Tehran on January 1 and will come to an end on January 9.
